We served our syilx/okanagan neighbours by:
Offering an adhoc lending library of reading materials and books by Indigenous authors
Attending a release of fish fry into Skaha Lake
Visiting Enowkin Cultural Centre
Attending a celebration PowWow
Touring the Penticton Indian Band fish hatchery
We served our immediate neighbourhood around the church by:
Hosting a September BBQ funded in part by BC Missions Committee of the ELCIC and sponsored by many local businesses
Having Nibbles & Games Nights that kick off with potluck nibbles followed by fun and games
We served the larger community of Penticton by:
Supporting some of the community outreach programs in Penticton that are near and dear to our hearts such as the Oasis Food Cupboard, Penticton and Area Access Centre, Queen’s Park Elementary School (meal program and/or hockey program for children in need) , our own Forget-Me-Not Cafe, and internationally, Canadian Lutheran World Relief
Offering Concerts – this year Steve Elliott’s Elvis concert filled the sanctuary in May, and Bob Park’s Masters of South American Guitar concert had record attendance in early November. These were also great fundraising events for ORLC
Organizing Coffee Houses which featured local musicians: Scott MacKenzie & Bob Park, Kyle Anderson, and The Bench Trio
